Uganda Wildlife Authority – Primate Permit Price Increase

The Uganda Wildlife authority has announced an increase in permit fees for primate trekking experiences in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, and Queen Elizabeth National Park, effective from 1st July 2024.

For non-resident visitors, the gorilla trekking permit fee will increase from $700 to $800. Chimpanzee permits in Kibale Forest National Park will increase from $200 to $250. Chimpanzee Habituation permits have increased from $250 to $300.

Chimpanzee permits in Kyambura Gorge (Queen Elizabeth National Park) have increased from $50 to $100.

UWA Tariff Changes

All permits previously purchased will be honoured at the old rate, the new fee is applicable to all non-confirmed and new bookings. The price change is effective immediately for any new bookings for 1st July 2024 onwards.
New bookings between now and 30th June 2024, will still be at the original permit prices. The change is effective from 1st July onwards.

NB: The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) is yet to have a meeting with UWA to discuss the immediate effect rule, in case of any changes we will keep you informed.
