Formerly known as the Kaniyo Pabidi Eco-tourism site under the Jane Goodall Institute, Budongo Eco Lodge is undergoing exciting changes. Now managed by Great lakes Safaris in partnership with the National Forest Authority (NFA), we are developing this hidden gem into Café Budongo training and conservation Centre.
Less than 3km away, the brand new Pabidi Lodge Budongo is currently under construction, promising an unparalleled experience amidst the captivating beauty of Budongo Forest. While our new lodge takes shape, the forest’s enchanting activities continue. From chimp tracking to forest walks and birdwatching, there is plenty of adventure to explore. Bookings can still be made through reservations.
Budongo Forest Activities
Budongo Forest which is located within Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda, is a haven of biodiversity and natural wonders. Home to over 600 chimpanzees, as well as a myriad of other primate species It is also home to rare forest bird species, such as the illadopsis puveli and the yellow-footed flycatcher.
Budongo is celebrated for its rich ecological diversity. Spanning vast expanses of lush greenery and towering Mahogany trees, Budongo offers visitors a glimpse into the untamed beauty of Africa’s untouched wilderness. Budongo Forest Reserve is an area with an enormous diversity in flora and fauna. Thanks to the extended and well maintained network of forest trails, it is possible to explore the dense forest with its beautiful biodiversity in different ways.
