Ngamba Island “Rumble in the Jungle”

Great Lakes Safaris has always been one of the biggest supporters of the orphaned chimpanzees at Ngamba Island.

That is why our team couldn’t miss the special event “Rumble in the jungle” dinner dance! The celebrations were hosted by Sheraton Kampala in order to raise funds to feed the chimpanzees at Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. It was a wonderful evening with delicious food, nice music, a lot of people and great chimpanzee stories. The compassion and care for the chimps was touching.

Great Lakes Safaris had reserved a table for 10 people, good for a contribution of 2 million shillings to the event! In addition, the Managing Director Amos Wekesa participated in the auction and bought a picture of one of the chimps named ‘Pasa’, an orphaned chimp originating from Congo. Read more about Pasa’s story…

The “Rumble in the jungle” event took place just before the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary marked 14 years since its launch, on 3rd October 2013. The island received the first group of chimpanzees on 12 October 1998, making it 15 years of providing a safe haven to rescued, orphaned chimpanzees.
